Growing Stronger to Serve You Better
MEECA is Using the Power of Our 67 Members
Your state legislator is back home working hard in hopes of getting your vote. Do you think they know your stand on energy efficiency? If not, now is the perfect time to remind them of
how the policy decisions made by the Michigan legislature back in 2008 have helped your business; helped your customers’ business; helped the state’s ecomony.
Contact your state Representative or state Senator and share your success!
On your behalf, MEECA has been hard at work making sure that the voice of energy efficiency contractors is heard while the legislature was in session.
On this the end of MEECA’s first year of existence, we now count 67 members! These members are providing us power to advocate for energy efficiency.
After the very successful Michigan Energy Efficiency Expo & Capital Day, MEECA staff continued meeting with legislators, tracking proposed energy legislation and participating in discussions on
what our future energy policies will be.
In this month’s Maven, we highlight the events on September 17, including the statement made by MEECA executive director, Brindley
Byrd. We will also share information about packages of energy bills being considered and give an update on Michigan’s proposed residential building code.
Don’t forget to get your tickets for MEECA’s 1st Annual Banquet where
we will recognize our Founding Members and the accomplishments this
association has made in this, our first year.
There is Power in Numbers!
As always, thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Brindley Byrd
Executive Director

The time is now to remind and inform state legislators of the impact energy efficiency has had to Michigan’s businesses, citizens and environment. Three of the Midwest’s leading energy advocacy
organizations worked together and organized the Michigan Energy Efficiency Expo & Capital Day. September 17, 2014 was a day dedicated to celebrating Michigan’s energy efficiency industry,
which saw 42 exhibitors set-up displays in Michigan’s Capitol Building.
The day’s message: Energy efficiency is working for Michigan!

Michigan’s Aggressive Pursuit of Energy Policy
Three Packages of Bills to Consider
MEECA has been hard at work tracking three packages of energy bills currently under discussion in the Michigan legislature. One package was released one day before the scheduled recess was to
begin. Taken individually, each of these three efforts is substantial. Consideration of all three at the same time is darn right overwhelming. We are always watching to see that
energy efficiency remains a high priority in all discussions and are working through the details of the various recommendations and provisions.

efforts…
